Hi, Gramigno from Milan

I forgot maybe to say how i did this results,
it have to be dynoed with closed bonnet and hight speed air,
if it's done with open bonnet i don't know how much, but it have to rise because with open bonnet you will have more air then in the real world.

    any news?

  • Hi, as promised, I let the comparison made by Wimmer make racing technology.

The whole story has me € 278 (250 € = let 2x performance measurement with KN, cooling and 2x performance measurement with the Puffo including installation + 28 € Free shipping OEM filter and hose) cost, so I would be very grateful if some of you participate in the cost would be. So I'll sit alone on the cost, in order to finally clarify whether the Puffo bring something or not. (I myself have no Puffo)

Just write what you "donate" will, I will send you my bank details via PM

Special thanks to Maddy, who made his Puffo available, and also to the Thorsten Wimmer, because the course does not really have incurred costs that were charged to me.

What can I say, the very positive reports that are circulated until now, have unfortunately NOT confirmed.
The Puffo loses on the KN gene. 2 kit, the chart is attached as a PDF.

  • I wish to thank you for testing it and i apologize if it disappointed you.

i knew onee day a different test after over 20 done all arround the world it could have a different resul,
even if i can't really understand what may have a different result just doing the same test.

    just for the records:
if you tested it with open bonnet is normal you have not found the result,
if you did it in my same conditions wich are closed bonnet and direct air fan at at least 80km/h air.
(i done it with 130 air fan.)

    TRhanks again for tryed it.

    Gram.

  • Hallo Gram,

the tests was mad with closed bonnet.

The Air Fan is roundabout 2 meters from the Front of the Car and has a diamameter from 1 to 1,5 meter.

in terms of wind speed, since I can not say anything.
What is certain is that the Puffo as well as the KN filter was NOT blown directly.

But please do not forget, this was NOT a comparison Puffo against OEM, this was Puffo against KN GENRATION II Kit

  • Hi,
have you found donators enought to allow me to know what happened during the test?

    Many people have done the same tests across Europe and you have been the only one who find a better improvement/cost ratio;
but untill now i still don't know what happened,
how much power and torque does your car have in both setting,
    and how much is dissipated.

i wish to have some more informations,
just to understand what was different (I said different, not wrong) in the test you have done.

    Thanks for helping me.

    Gram.

    found them, sorry!!

    is it a 4 gear?

i have seen a "Puffo" mark and a "K&N" mark too.

    what are the other measures?

I'm sorry, I do not know which gear was used

the other measurements were necessary to make the tuning of the engine in all areas safe because my exhaust temperature was very high (over 920 ° C)

but overall there were more test runs needed. Thorsten have been printed here only for comparison for me

  • Unfortunately, no.
But that doesn't matter if you find errors, write them here, so there's this forum

  • I think i found something but before talking i wish to have an help in translations:

Google tranlates as "performace" and "gearbox adding performance"
i THINK they means "Wheel output" and "Engine output",
but it can means "torque" and "power" too,
s i need someone will translate it for me.

IF the "201" are intended as "torque" means something,
if they are intended as "wheel power" or "pure power" it means something else.

    Please let me know,
    it should become very intresting.

    Cheers.

    Gram.

  • Hi Gram

yesterday i found a little time to make a test drive with puffo installed
here my experiences without measurement, only watched the A/F-ratio
    in my case (a lot of modifications on my car such as 68 throttle body, header, HFC, 70mm single exhaust) with the A/F goes to lean, especially in VTEC;
OEM intake: WOT - A/F 12.5--13 (VTEC too)
    Puffo: WOT: 13-14
had to raise the fuel pressure to compensate this

    1. manufacturing and fitting accuracy :)
    2. throttle response and power output (felt): motorway (>120 km/h+) :-| , normal road (<120) :)
curious in my opion because Gram's dyno experiences showed the opposite: more power due to higher air speed
but i have to say again: this was only FELT, i've made no datalog or measurements
i consider to make a further test run with my AEM ECU and make a datalog
    3. Sound :) - but for me it's too loud - i'd rather hear the "race sound" from the exhaust
    4. look and feel :) - it's a decent style compared to the snorkel solutions

    my subjective result:
this intake it's more than worth the money, but i recommend to check the A/F ratio, because on cars with a lot of mods it can run lean
i think a stock car runs rich enough for this intake

although i like this intake, i think i'll sell it because of the loudness
with my header-exhaust system combined with puffo it sounds too loud for me
i don't like loud intake sound

  • HI,
may you still help me to understand jimmy's print?

i'll try to explain what i found weird:
    in some power output lines we can see a vertical groving of the measured value;
i know a dyno works adding wheel output power to lost power and i think that vertical groving may be originated by a pulled hand brake during rolling phase to measure lost power.

What do you think about it?

Is someone expert in dynos enought to help me to find out?

and if "yes" do you ever have seen the power growing vertically without a revolution increase?
and where is the "lost power line"?

    Sorry about my doubts,
but if you know about dynoing you will discover this prints are at least weird.

    Hi Gramigno,

i will send your question to Thorsten Wimmer. unfortunately he has not much time, But he has assured me to answer all questions

    Thank you so much!
i really appreciate your help, mate!

  • Does somebody with the Puffo has the posibility to generate a table with rpm on the x axis, TPS on the y axis and MAP (average) inside the cells?.

I would also like to see at least to see all the WOT cells populated (for all rpm intervals).

In the s2ki post the guy writes about >100kpa average values.. (but without mentioning TPS and RPM values...)

ps- and with the car actually running on the road

  • reanimate this thread :D

someone knows what kind of filter fits to the airbox of Gramigno?
the OEM filters doesn't seem to have the expected diameter of 18.5 - 19cm which are necessary for proper installation.
