Engine Problem ? (MP3 file inside !), Strange taping noise

    Hi !

    I have this strange noise which I don't know if it's coming from the engine itself or nearby accessories (pumps, chain ...).

    I have modified the sound sample to enhance some frequencies and I lowered the pitch (like you could do slow motion on an image).
    New sample higher quality

    This happens when the engine is cold (it stays 5min max after cold start and then disappears).
    It doesn't stay when I accelerate above 1500r/min and only happens when at idle.

    My S2000 is a 2002 with 49 000km.
    Forgot to say that my valve clearance has been adjusted at 45 000km.

    Is somebody having the same problem ?
    Somebody already solved it ?

    My Honda dealer said it could come from the oil pump...
    Any ideas ?

    Hi s2000.fr,

    a silly question: you said that you adjusted the valve settings at 45.000 km. Have you ever had this strange noise before???

    I would recommend to change your garage - ask a second or third expert!
