    Hello hello!

I've gotta keep this international thread hot so here is something to check out........ my new mod for my S is an oil cooler with two gauges, oil temp. and oil pressure. I'll post more pictures when it's 100% finished but here is a teaser pic.

    Gruesse!

    Hi Fran!

    Nice mod!

Can U please make a few pics of the cooler itself and the sandwitch plate?
Take some brighter pics from the gauges as well!

    Sweet! carbon fiber FTW! :)

Dude, it looks like your starter button is at an angle

Hope your S is doing well!
The oil cooler is from Setrab, a Swedish company. I'll post detailed pics next week when all is done.

    @Stocky
The carbon plate is from my local RC shop. Good old 2mm thick carbon from Graupner!

    Pipo 2000
The gauges are from STRI with a white LED backlight.

    McHeizer
    Yo yo!
Yeh, that's what I thought but perhaps it's just the angle I took the photo. The starter button snaps in place only in one direction/angle so I don't know how to refit it, if it needs to be refitted

Thanks for the comments my S buddies! :]

So here is my conclusion to the finished oil cooler set-up.....

    Specs:

    Oil cooler: Setrab 13 rows
    Oil sensor adpter: Greddy
    Gauges: STRI led backlight
Gauge pod: SOS single gauge pillar

I took the S for a test drive today and the first thing I noticed is that the two gauges do not distract my driving view. Good news because in the beginning, I thought of mounting both gauges on the A-pillar, I happy that I didn't!!

So, with a 10 minute warm-up the oil temp was somewhere at 50 degrees and only after driving around for another 3 minutes did the temp gauge start to move. After a good 15 minutes the oil was up to 75 and it was time to push it!
What I noticed was the oil reached a maximum of around 92 degrees after 15 minutes of country lane driving. I did not drive on the motorway but I would guess that the oil temp would say close to the 90-95 degrees.

The oil pressure gauge is a question mark for me :?: On idle it reads at around 3 kg/cm2 which is normal I believe and when the rpms pick up, the oil pressure follows.
So, everything sounds good you say but what I noticed when I'm driving is that the oil pressure stays at 7 kg cm2! The needle looks as if it wants to break off. Is this correct!?!

Does anybody know if the oil pressure reading is correct?

Apart from this question, the whole oil cooler set-up is awesome! :D

Here are the pics. Enjoy! :)

Why are the 2 positions of the gauges so far away from each other? :?:

    No triple gauges?

The air vent is in the way!!!  :)

Triple gauges all on one side would be too much for me.

Cool that you have finished the project.
    It's nicely done!

However with many after-market gauges in an S2k I kind of dislike the analog style vs. digital of the OEM cluster.
The black dark appearance when it's off looks cool though 8)

Regarding the oil pressure: (we already discussed on the phone)
Oil pressure according to the service manual:
    at idle speed 2.5 kgf/cm²
    at 3000rpm 6.0 kgf/cm²
    so yours is fine!

I wouldn't know what the triple gauge would be for - except for a hidden view through your windshield
No it's cool that you only have a single gauge pod!

At which location does your airhose run through to the engine bay?

Thanks for the helpful info dude!

Here is a pic of how I routed the hose to the airbox. This was the only possibility that I found to fit the 70mm hose through. It was a very tight fit. I simply wanted too much fresh air for my filter...... :D

    Cheers mate!

Where did u get the carbon plate?

I want one... :) i dont care if its carbon or plastic (i would prefer the same material like the original one thought..)

I dont like the idea of A-pillar gauges.. so I plan to have one dual gauge over there
