@ Tyson: good point!
We had a good friendship before and so far it's even getting stronger. So no worries -
OK, some more travel news:
From Cuzco we drove west into Nazca to see the famous Nazca Lines.
We took one of the small airplane-rides to see everything from above. The hole thing was part of the fun, since the captain did some aerobatic stuff on the way back to Nazca. -

From Nazca we drove down to Lima
One of the prettiest cities so far - however pretty hectic and with a strong threat of pickpockets, etc.Lima was on the most important and wealthy cities in the 18th century until a grand earthquake destroyed it totally.
So what can be seen today is rebuilt from that time plus some remains of the old town. -
From Lima we moved on north towards Ecuador
Here some varios impressions:
the closer to the Ecuator we are the more tropical the landscape gets -
The breakfast girl doesn't look
La-Tina to me !
Or is that the swiss girl from Buenos Aires which took to much sun ?!
-
Nice greetings!! Erik!!
This is a swiss girl!!
a swiss chocolate girl!! mmmmhhh!!Swiss Ursli

You crazy bone-heads!
But that's why I like you guys!Greetings back from (meanwhile) Ecuador!!!

From Lima we drove further up north to eventually hit Ecuador after 3 days of driving again in the mountains with beautiful views!
Our goal here was the coastal town Manta
Reason for that is: we ship our beloved Nugget to Panama since there is no through road from Colombia to Panama.
Even with all the shipping logistics and formalities to handle (puuh :o) there was still some time left to actually drive to the Equator
Here some evidence: -
We and the Nugget(!) are leaving the Southern American continent after:
- 40 (driving) days
- 16.000 kilometers
- 54 degrees of latitude (from Tierra del Fuego to the Equator)We are timing-wise as well as distance-wise more or less at half-time. So we are in good shape
Having fun and doing well! -
Man this is voll Fett !
Did you have a scale with you to see if you are lighter on the Equator ?!
-
BUT we didn't leave all the way without visiting the capital of Ecuador.
We took a public bus to Quito -> a 9 hour bumpy ride over night!
Very pleasant city at 2800m
- sunny and warm in the morning - cloudy and fresh from the afternoon on. -
In Quito there is another chance of stepping on the Equator-line
Here with a big monument and again lots of fun shooting picturesAt the museum there were several experiments with less gravity, forces from north and south levelling each other, water not rotating while flooding, etc. Very interessting!
-
I see you've been at the right place at the right time...lots of swiss people

Sure dude!
The Swiss-division just keeps follwing us - I cannot help it -
